I thought I'd spend some time talking you through my eyebrow routine. Eyebrows to me make all the difference to anyones look. They are the one thing that I will put that little extra time into. Having said that, this routine takes very little time and effort.
To start with I think we should talk tools and products. I am lucky in that my eyebrow hairs don't grow very fast which means that I only pluck them every 4-6 weeks. And even then I only pluck the strays. My brow shape is all my own, I've never had them professionally done in any way! I think my biggest advice would to just take out the strays, don't over pluck or go tweezer mad. Along with that I think a nice sharp pair of tweezers is crucial. Mine are the travel tweezermans and I've had them for a couple of years. They are the best tweezers I have ever owned, giving the best results.
Other than tweezers the other tools that I use is a small angled brush, eyebrow shadow or gel and some concealer.
As far as brushes are concerned I have two which I use on a regular basis. The MAC 208 brush which I have had for over 5 years and still does the job perfectly. It washes well, hasn't shed and is the ideal size. The other brush is a more budget option, the ELF Studio Small Angled brush. It is genuinely amazing. It is softer and slightly thicker than the MAC brush. It washes brilliantly, again hasn't shed and is the one I seem to be gravitating towards recently.
As previously mentioned on this blog the brow product I'm in love with at the moment is the ELF eyebrow kit in Medium. The shadow is a slightly redder colour than perhaps I would normally wear but it works really well. I initially only used the wax in the kit because it is a cooler shade but one day I gave the shadow a go and I haven't looked back. I now just use the wax in the ends of my brow for a little more definition. In the past I have used a variety of other products including mixing the two matte brown shades from the Sleek Storm palette- which also worked amazingly. Truth is I'm not picky. If it is the right colour and I have one of the brushes mentioned above I'm a happy bunny.
The last "tool" is a little bit of whatever concealer you have on hand. I have used my MAC Studio Finish in NC20 here and a Real Techniques 'deatailer brush' to get nice and close to the brow. I don't see this as a vital step but if I'm going out or have the time, it makes a difference to the finish of the look. It makes the brows look uber clean and polished.
Ok let's get into the step-by-step guide.
1. I take the angled brush, some of the shadow and draw a line along the bottom of the brow, from the very front of the brow to the high point of the arch.
2. Then I do the same but to the top of the brow.
5. Draw a line at the top of the brow from the high point of the arch, angling down to meet the point of the line you have just made. If you need to fill this in then do so now.
6. I have then taken some of the wax and just gone over the tail of the brow to add a little more definition.
7. Finally I have taken some of the concealer on the Real Techniques brush and gone around the whole of the brow, paying particular attention to the underneath of the arch to brighten the area.
And that's it! The finished look! I hope this has been helpful.
I look forward to hearing your feedback!
Love C xxx
