My Skincare Saviours

I thought this week I would talk about my "skincare saviours". By this I mean products which I've had for a long time which I go back to time and time again.

This is one of those products which everyone and their dog talks about. But in this instance its fame is utterly deserved. I have been using Bioderma for around 3 or 4 years now. With a house in Brittany in France it has always been easy enough for me to get my mitts on. Not to mention how much cheaper it is in France!
How do I use it?
I use Bioderma morning, evening and even during the day if i'm having a no makeup day and want a quick freshen up. I use it with a cotton pad and hold them on my eyes for maybe 5-10 seconds before rubbing. Then I wriggle the cotton pad and then BAM all the eyemakeup is gone. Seriously I haven't come across anything this stuff couldn't take off!

Again this is something which has cropped up a lot recently. For me, this acts as a replacement for face wipes. I keep it by my bed along with a cotton muslin cloth and when I can't be bothered to walk to the bathroom I just use this. It acts almost like a cleanser and moisturiser in one. It is amazing at taking off face make up, I normally will use Bioderma before to remove whatever eye makeup I have on.

I take about a tablespoons worth and rub it in my hands to melt it. Then I massage it all over my face and down my neck. Then I take the muslin cloth and rub off the coconut oil. I normally do this twice. I exclusively use this in the evening because I have oily skin and don't think it would work well for me under a face of makeup.

I have talked about this before on my blog but Oilatum swoops in and saves the day so often that it just has to be mentioned!! It's fragrance free and is aimed at dry sensitive skin. I have neither of those but I love the way it makes my skin feel. Also this stuff saves a super hungover Cress every time. You know that horrid dehydrated feeling your face gets after a heavy night out? Well, this stuff sorts that right out and makes you look like you've had an abundance of beauty sleep (even though I've probably had 4 hours sleep max.).
How do I use it?
I use this like any other moisturiser. I normally use this just in the evening but on some days I will use it in the morning too. It actually works really well under makeup because it leaves a kind of film on the skin. I only use a pea sized amount but that's more than enough!

This makes me think of my best friend Becca and she's the one that turned me on to the wonders of Sudocrem. If we were sharing a room, in the evenings she'd emerge from the bathroom just before bed with this stuff slathered on her face. It is a real life saver. Put it on a spot at bed time and by the morning it will be significantly reduced. There have been times where I'll be going out in the night so in the afternoon I'll be rocking around the house with this white cream on breakouts- very attractive.

I put a layer of this on spots at bed time. Or if I'm having a particularly tough time with my skin, I'll put a thinner layer across my whole face. It also works wonders on sunburn!

Not at all glamourous but I just keep finding myself repurchasing this one. I am an avid fan of the double cleanse, and this stuff is the second cleanser I use in the shower. It leaves my skin soft and clean- what more could you want? I'm aware that this kind of daily exfoliator is not for everyone but I love knowing and having the feelings of super clean skin, morning and night. Also if i'm particularly spotty it helps get rid of the dry skin left behind after a bad bout of breakouts. It's cheap and cheerful but does the job.
How do I use it?
As I said I use this as part of a double cleanse. In the shower in the morning and over the sink at night, I use the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap first (a great product but not one that I would say is a saviour). Then as the last step before getting out of the shower I get the Exfoliating Daily Wash and a grape sized amount and work it in thoroughly to my skin before washing it off with hot water.

I hope you found this interesting. Certainly I could have mentioned a few more products but these are the real life savers!
What are your skincare saviours?

Lots of love C xxx
