May Favourites

May has been a month of ups and downs; I had exams and essays galore but I also finished school for the summer and turned 20. I've discovered some new products and re-discovered some old ones. So let's dig in to this months favourites!

Beauty Favourites.

First up is an affordable wonder- Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer 002. At just £ it smooths out your skin preparing it for your base of your choice. I love how light it feels on the skin, a problem I sometimes find with other primers I've used in the past- you don't want a primer to feel like yet another step in your base routine and this one does not feel like this. I'm never too convinced as to the effect a primer has to my foundations longevity but this one certainly makes my foundation look and feel nicer- at an awesome price!

Now an old favourite of mine MAC Studio Fix Fluid.  I somehow always seem to come back to this one. The coverage is full-on but if applied with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush it can look surprisingly natural. It smells like paint and if too much is applied it can have the tendency to look like paint too, and yet I keep coming back to it, its just a real old faithful product of mine!

Next up is my new favourite brow product. MAC eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown is a perfect match for my hair colour and makes applying my brows super convenient. As much as I loved the ELF brow kit the shadow was always a little too warm toned and the packaging was much bulkier. Whereas Charcoal Brown in its single shadow pot is small and easily fits in my makeup bag. This one is a real game changer as far as my brows are concerned.

ELF Studio Blush in Blushing Rose has been my blush of choice throughout May. It looks lovely when I've got a tan but also when I'm at my palest. It is shimmery but not too, giving the cheeks a lovely glow. Plus it's super inexpensive!

Now to two products that were featured in my Haul from France- the Lancome Artliner and Hypnose Drama Mascara. The Artliner took a little bit of getting used to as the applicator was a little more flexible than I was used too- it really reminded me of the Loreal Superliner- maybe a should see if they are dupes?
That being said, once I got used to the applicator it became easy to use and the product itself is very pigmented and lasts all day. The Mascara is fabulous. Normally I wear more than one mascara, as I do ask quite a lot from a mascara- volume, definition, length, dark black pigmentation and a nice long lasting formula. But this one fills the brief entirely. It is pricey but as a post student loan treat I couldn't be more happy.

Continuing on in the theme of lashes, my next favourite is the Primark 'Sultry' false lashes. Towards the end of the month, with my birthday and the end of exams, I had a number of occasions which warranted falsies. I've loved these ones for a few years now. At £1 you can't really go wrong, but these ones really exceed expectations. They look natural-ish whilst giving me the drama I want. They are comfortable with a very fine band and when applied with the DUO lash adhesive they stay on a real treat. I urge you all to give them a go!

My last two beauty favourites are MAC lipsticks. I was a very lucky girl and got Morange as a present from my best friend Anna. It is a fabulous orange shade in the amplified formula which means it is comfortably moisturising whilst not being too shiny and not at all glittery. An absolute must for the summer months. I love it with just a lick of mascara, but also for a night out. Thanks Anna!! This month I also purchased Shy Girl, a cremesheen lipstick which is stunning for everyday. It is quite glossy and has a little bit of shimmer but it certainly subtle and gorgeous for the daytime and evening. It is a stunning nude-y coral shade which looks fabulous with a tan.

Random Favourites

With a doubt my most favourite item of this month has to be my Birkenstock Arizonas. When I saw the Birkenstock re-surfacing it immediately reminded me of the pair I had when I was a little girl. I literally wore them until I had to walk with my heels hanging off the back of the shoe. I can honestly say I love them as much now as I did then. I think I can count how many times I haven't worn them over the last month on one hand. They have just been glued to my feet. They are comfortable as hell and because I got the simple black leather ones they just go with everything! Long may this trend reign!!

Next up is another accessory, my Zara grey bag. Since buying this early on in the month I've used nothing else. It is a refreshing change from my usual black handbags. It fits a tonne of stuff in it and is really comfortable to carry even when it's overfilled. I adore it!

Peonies are my next May favourite. My boyfriend bought me a stunning bunch of these for my birthday- they are hands down my favourite cut flower. They were the first bunch of flowers he gave me so mean a lot too. Not to mention how stunning they are!

I have two musical favourites. First is Years and Years- they are incredible, making the kind of music that just makes me want to go out. Here is my favourite song by them:

And second is Sam Smiths album, its just amazing!

I have two TV favourites. The Good Wife and Suits. They can both be found on Netflix and are both lawyer related sit-com/dramas. Both are gripping, funny and have awesome casts!

And my last favourite has to be the end of exams and the beginning of summer! This past month was hands down my hardest yet in uni, I don't think I've ever worked so hard and felt so sleep deprived! Now that is past me I've spent my first week back at home indulging in some DIY, completely revamping my room. I can't wait for sunshine, beer gardens, getting crafty and spending the next few months with my amazing friends, boyfriend and family.

As always thank you so much for reading.
I hope this post has been interesting.

I've been seriously struggling with an acute case of 'bloggers-block' not feeling like writing anything. Any suggestions would be enormously helpful.
Plus the photos here are taken on my new camera, let me know what you think of the improved quality!

Lots of love, C xxx
