Lip Loves

On my lips: MAC Morange

This summer I have fully embraced all things lips. Whether it be nude, coral, red, pink or orange- I'm in love with lip products! I thought I'd show my current lip loves, hope you enjoy!

The line-up.

Swatches. Left to Right: MAC Cremesheen in Shy Girl, MAC Amplified in Morange, MAC Matte Ruby Woo, ELF Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx and (last but not least) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 34 La Raffinee.

First and foremost lip care needs to be touched on. On the way to France I picked up Maybelline Baby Lips in Mint Fresh in Tesco as it was on offer. The formula is light but softening- perfect under a very matte lipstick like Ruby Woo. For something more intense, at night I've been applying NUXE Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm. I picked this up in the Parapharmacy in France and i'm in love! The super rich formula makes my lips look and feel amazing. It's a slightly weird consistency- almost dry- when you first put it on, but once your lips have warmed it up it just melts and tastes/smells incredible. At £9.50 on Feelunique it's not the cheapest but if you're in Europe it's much cheaper- €6.95.

Now to the stars of the show.
First off one of my most worn colours this summer- MACs Shy Girl. I picked this up in Liverpool just before term ended. Normally it wouldn't be the shade I would pick out as i'm not a huge nude lip lover. However I wanted something everyday-appropriate and this is ideal. The shade is slightly shimmery (another thing I would normally steer well clear of) but it's so finely milled that it is barely noticeable once on the lips. The shade is a sort of nudey-coraly-pink- totally wearable! Looks great with or without a tan. I think this one will be a staple for a long time.

Next up MACs Morange. This was a fabulous gift from my best friend Anna for my birthday. When I opened it up I was a bit weirded out because I had been eyeing it up earlier on in the week and didn't know how she knew- she didn't she just knows me super well!! The formula of the Amplified lipsticks from MAC is divine- creamy yet not shiny and so so pigmented! The whole orange lip trend is back this summer and this shade seems to be on most Beauty Editors lists, and I see why. A little goes a long way with this one but the colour is beautiful whether applied liberally or blotted out.

An oldie but goodie now- MAC Ruby Woo. This is a very matte formula so be warned if you have dry lips. That being said the staying power of this one is insane! I guess red lips aren't traditionally summery but I think this lipstick looks amazing all year round. Even if it does need a layer of lip-balm under it!

Onto a more budget option, ELF Pink Minx. You would never know this one was just £3.95! The formula is gorgeous- creamy and pigmented. It's a pretty pink shade with no shimmer. This is one of those brighter pinks that can still be worn everyday without being too much.

Leaving the best for last... my birthday treat... Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet in 34 La Raffinee. This lipstick is a dream. It's matte yet not too matte and the shade is a divine 'your-lips-but-better' mauve-pink. I struggle not to put this on everyday because it's just that beautiful. Oh and let's just take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is the packaging?! I bought this after receiving a £20 Boots voucher from my Aunt so all I did was put in the extra £6! So maybe not so much of a splurge- a Chanel lipstick for £6!! This is my baby right now- you'll have to prize it from my cold dead hands! I think this product may have fired up a serious addiction to Chanel beauty- woopsie!

I hope you enjoyed this post. I'm really trying to get back into the swing of this blogging thing.
