St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Lotion Review

After second application before being washed off

As a fan of fake tan I'm not new to the wonders of St Moriz. I would always go for the mousse and it would do everything I wanted it to. It gives a nice deep natural colour- well as natural as fake tan ever looks. It does smell but actually it doesn't bother me too much. I've tried the spray and found it difficult to use but never had any problems with the mousse.

Therefore, whilst cruising the aisles of my local Tesco I spotted the lotion. I'd never seen it before and thought this formula might be slightly more moisturising.
When pale and in a distinctly sunless situation I thought it a good moment to review.
So I had a nice long shower; shaved, exfoliated and scrubbed my skin thoroughly. Whilst slightly damp I used some of the Sanctuary Spa Mande Lular Body Soufflé on my elbows, knees, ankles and arm pits (gross I know but somewhere I have really dry skin).

Then down to business.

I used my cheap but faithful Primark tanning mitt. And I used the lotion in 'medium'. I start from my legs and feet and work my way up- with the help of my sister to put tan on my back (thanks Chen!).

It went on smoothly and gave a nice instant colour, a bit khaki but bearable. It dried quickly but didn't leave my skin feeling as soft as I initially thought it might.

After a few hours it looked streakier than when first applied. The smell was no where near as strong as the mousse.

Fast forward to the next morning when I washed it off. The instant colour washed off straight away, like it always does. However, I quickly noticed that the nice deep colour it had been when I woke up was almost entirely gone when I stepped out of the shower- a real disappointment. The colour clung to my drier areas, especially to my feet and hands...not a good look. Whilst leaving my less dry areas almost back to their normal pale colour.

Seen as I was going out that night I put on another layer of the St Moriz lotion. This time the colour was ideal. It looked awesome all night but I had to watch that I didn't spill my drinks in case of patchiness.
The next morning in my shower it was the same again. Most of the colour washed off, clinging to my feet and hands the worst.

All in all I will use this to the end of the bottle. But whether I'd buy it again is questionable. I love the way it looks on the day of application and it does not smell anywhere near as strong as the other St Moriz products I've used or any other tanning products for that matter. The price is amazing, under £5 for 200ml is fabulous.
But after washing it off it looks more like the mousse does after 4-5 days. Not nice.
I'd recommend this as a quick fix product but if you want a long lasting tan this is not the product for you.
